Back in Full Motion!

There's been a lot since the last post, which was at the near end of the Spring 21 semester...

The first thing that I worked on was backgrounds. I've still got some work to do (including clean up in the file folder) but I've slowly made more of the backgrounds have depth of some sort!

For the characters, I have adjusted their appearances slightly, using gradients rather than a solid color, to hopefully make it feel a tad bit more dynamic and less flat looking (flat isn't bad, just thought they should stand out a little compared to the backgrounds).

Also, to take note: I've finally created my wonderful butterfly and caterpillar! The caterpillar probably isn't my more favorite, but that's okay because it turns into a butterfly which I absolutely love how it turned out! Might adjust the caterpillar at some point.

Finally, as something I've progressively been doing, is clean up in the After Effects files. I've gotten rid of most (if not all) useless files that were either missing a link or just overall, not used. This also included duplicate comps and miscellaneous files that I don't even remember where they might even be.

As one last comment, I have actually FINALLY began working on the movements for the faces. I've gotten Scene 1, Shot 1 pretty much done, as it's going to be rather simple with just the parents faces moving.

However, things I still must work on in the first shot... lots and lots of things.

  1. Change of the bedroom (since I changed the bedroom to have more depth, it doesn't match anymore, at least not color wise and item wise).

  2. The caterpillar can't rotate! It's not shown here, but in the very beginning, I have the basic movement down already for the moving, but when it comes to the caterpillar turning downwards, I haven't exactly been able to figure that out, unfortunately. Something that may have to be worked on in the coming month, bit by bit.

  3. Our main character's face! It's not super noticeable in the screen cap, but the face overlaps with the single layer character. I need to fix the layer issue in Illustrator. And on top of that, face transitions (hopefully).

  4. Adding on to the main character, I need to transform from the blob to the circle much better, it's just there one moment and then pop! transformed. I just haven't been able to find anything other than shapes, not compositions or objects. This poses the problem of having to essentially recreate (somehow) the character entirely in After Effects then, both the blob and circle form. It wouldn't be that big of an issue... except I've got much more to do on the entire project, so if I'm going to change that, it will be a bit further down the road, as a "finally getting the real thing placed".

So with all of that being said, I'm back to working on this in full force! I'm hoping to begin the wrap up all of this by the end of October, so I've got a lot of work ahead of me, but with where I'm at, and getting to, I'm confident in getting it done if I just keep at it.
